Piercing Aftercare
Congratulations on your new piercing!
Proper aftercare is essential to
ensure your piercing heals correctly.
General Guidelines
· Wash your hands before touching your piercing.
·Do not touch, twist, or move your jewelry
unnecessarily.
·Do not remove your jewelry during healing.
·Avoid sleeping on your piercing.
·Do not swim or submerge your piercing in
open water for 6–8 weeks minimum.
Cleaning Instructions
Clean your piercing twice a day.
How to clean:
Spray sterile saline onto a clean Q-tip or gauze and gently clean both sides of the piercing. Rinse thoroughly if using mild antibacterial soap, then pat dry with clean gauze or a paper towel.
Do not air dry.
Important:
Do not soak your piercing. Avoid cotton pads or loose fibers, as they can snag on jewelry and cause irritation.
Healing Times
Different piercings heal at different rates.
Earlobe: 6–8 weeks
Cartilage: 6 months – 1 year
Nose: 4–6 months
Navel: 6 months – 1 year
What To Avoid
Avoid alcohol, peroxide, harsh products, twisting jewelry, dirty hands, sleeping on the piercing, and swimming.
For navel piercings, avoid tight clothing or pressure on the area.
Jewelry Maintenance
Gently check your jewelry as needed to
make sure the backing or screw-on parts
are secure. Avoid over-touching or twisting
the jewelry.
Schedule a downsizing appointment to get
shorter backs when you heal.
